Our
Brandmark
Industry
Facts |
The
CCBD brandmark was created as a result of an investigation into the
symmetry, geometric shapes, patterns, textures and symbolic references
to African art, culture and design. This brandmark projects a graphic
representation of African aesthetics already present in textile, painting
and sculpture design.
The CCBD brandmark also symbolizes our goal to help create and nurture
opportunities for all people of color while establishing a standard
of excellence in our industry. We will do this by creating a consistent
design language that visually reflects the various cultures of people
of color, throughout the world, in a positive and aspirational way.
Together, we will create a voice that will be heard throughout the
world.
The origin of our brandmark is the West African Adinkrahene, chief
of all Adinkra symbols, which signifies greatness, charisma and leadership.
It is said to have inspired the designing of other symbols, as we
too, at the Center for Creating Black Designers, seek to inspire others.
