Facts |
Maurice Woods graduated with honors from the University of Washington
with a BFA and MFA in Visual Communication Design. He played basketball
as an undergraduate and professionally worldwide for 7 years after
graduation while pursuing a parallel career as a freelance designer.
In 2003, Maurice returned to the University of Washington as a graduate
student, teaming up with the UW Graduate Opportunities and Minority
Achievement Program (GOMAP) and the Visual Communication department
to bring his design skills to the community, developing the Inneract
Project, a program to teach inner-city youth and the community
about the power of graphic design. |
In 2003 and 2004 Maurice received the GOMAP Presidential Scholar Award,
and in 2005 received the University of Washington School of Art Director’
s Award, which honors work by a student who demonstrated excellence
in academics, community service, and other creative endeavors. His
work has been exhibited at the African American Historical & Cultural
Society Museum in San Francisco.
